SEAFOOD CONNECTION AQCUIRES POLISH EUROFISH GROUP
New move will strengthen position of Dutch importer

Seafood Connection, one of the biggest Dutch seafood suppliers, has acquired Eurofish Poland Ltd.  The Dutch importer announced the acquisition will give them direct access to the promising markets of Poland and Eastern Europe and the company is expecting to gain profit from the combined purchase activities of the two seafood companies.

Szczecin based Eurofish, known for their fish products sold under brandnames like Eura and Eurafood, has a strong position on the Polish seafood market which is dominated by retailers. The Polish importer of frozen white and pelagic fish is a respected partner and supplier of many retail companies in Poland and the Czech Republic. 

Managing director Jan Kaptijn of Seafood Connection: “The last 2 years we invested heavily in optimising our sourcing and quality assurance as our activities on the retailmarket in Western Europe grew steadily. With our own offices in Vietnam and China up and running we were ready to take the next step in Eastern Europe and we saw a great opportunity with Eurofish. We expect the two similar companies will create synergy together and Eurofish can take full advantage of our expertise and running quality control programs in Vietnam and China”. 

Eurofish, which has a preferent share in IFS certified processing factory Marinus Ltd.,will continue their activities under the same management. The company has planned investments for 2 Mio PLN concerning a 2500T cold storage and offices. 

Urk based Seafood Connection, importer of a wide range of deepfrozen seafood products and known as one of the biggest European importers of pangasius fillets is Global GAP, MSC and ISO 22000 certified. The company annually moves aprox 20.000 Mton of fish products.
